Philadelphia’s homicide rate for year 2002 was 297, the lowest in seventeen years, in part because of the work of the partnership between the police and MUBP. In 2003 the Homicide rate increased to 347. 320 of the victims were Black males, 240 between the ages of 15 and 35.
 

 

               To date, the results of  Men United For A Better Philadelphia’s work in the community and with its many community partners include: 

               Consultants in schools throughout the city

               A  job placement and intake service placing more over 80 men in employment

               Pilot MUFBP Chapters in Chester, Pennsylvania, Camden, New Jersey and Atlantic City, New Jersey

               Coordinated policy initiatives with City, State and Federal Legislators

               Partnerships with the Philadelphia Police Department and local radio stations

               Three City-wide gun turn-ins—resulting in over 2,000 guns collected

               Peace Week/Peace Month activities across the city

               Motorcade in Camden, New Jersey recently named the “most dangerous city in America.”

               Recruitment of over 500 men as members of Men United For A Better Philadelphia
